Tackling Tears and Tantrums
January 29, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
A HEART-CENTERED APPROACH TO SUPPORTING YOU AND YOUR CHILD THROUGH THEM.
BECAUSE YOU’RE IN THIS TOGETHER.
Children communicate their needs differently than adults. In a world where we rely heavily on verbal communication, children often express their needs through nonverbal means via tears and tantrums. Not only are these behaviors hard for adults to understand, they can often be triggering and hard for adults to hold. Join this two hour workshop to learn how to:
“One of the lasting impacts of doing a mini parenting workshop with Priya for me had been the idea of adjusting our parenting styles appropriate to a child’s developmental needs. Priya’s workshop was based on the philosophy of Hand in Hand parenting and ‘the whole brain child,’ both of which taught me to center my connection with my child through active and compassionate listening. This helped me think about how to strengthen my own relationship with my child, through the enactments of ‘special times,’ which ultimately enabled both my child and myself to ride out the rough times.”
– Tapoja, Parent of a 6 year old, Seattle WA
It turns out that there are valid needs underlying children’s tears and tantrums. A need for release, a need for closeness. In the meantime the need underlying your emotional reaction to your child’s tears and tantrums isn’t very different. Both deserve to be met with connection to a safe person. How can you harness this idea to support your child through a tantrum, and in the process deepen your connection with your child?
When you attend this two-hour workshop, you will walk away with three practical tools that you can apply immediately to support your child’s tears and tantrums. Parenting is relentless and a long marathon, and you deserve support, to sustain you for the long haul.
